Spartans step up at year’s first home track meet | SLIDESHOW

The Bainbridge High track and field team hosted its first home meet of the season, welcoming participating athletes from Roosevelt and Ballard High to memorial stadium on Thursday, March 24 for more than 20 different events.

Spartan students staked claim to several top spots, including Taylee Undem in the girls 100-meter dash (12.75) and long jump, Hannah Tonsman in the girls 800-meter run (2:29.14), Naomi von Ruden in the girls 3200-meter run (12:26.65), Jianna Kauffman in the girls 100-meter hurdles (19.04), Audrey Weaver in the girls 300-meter hurdles (52.96), Sarah Lucioni in the girls high jump, Emma Chee in the girls pole vault, Wyatt Longley in the boys 400-meter dash (51.39), Johannes Griesser in the boys 3200-meter run (11:01.55), Ben Scott in the boys 110- and 300-meter hurdles (17.22, 44:87, respectively) and Connor Evans in the boys high jump.

Two girls relay teams also scored first place finishes, in the 4×200-meter relay – Aerin Amore, Undem, Weaver and McKenzie Korican (1:52.09) – and the 4×400 – Amore, Tonsman, Jacqueline McVay and Weaver (1:52.09).

It was the first actual meet of the Spartans’ season, after the annual Logan Relays on March 12.

The team next traveled to a meet hosted by Ingraham on Thursday, March 31.
