Albert Schweitzer once said, “There are two means of refuge from the misery of life – music and cats.” We’ll forgive the man the lunacy of the second half of his statement because he’s spot-on when it comes to the first.
This weekend, for your listening pleasure:
Head to the always charming Suzanne Maurice Wine Bar for a special show from newcomers Odell Fox. Their first EP, “Moon Shiner,” has a soft-spoken Americana feel. It builds and builds and suddenly you’re smiling and your heart is full. $10 cover.
The theme for Saturday is vintage: Sample sips at Eleven Winery while Sundae & Mr. Goessl deliver throwbacks circa 1930. Music from 1 to 4 p.m. Tastings noon to 5 p.m.
Individually, the members of SpiceRack play a little bit of everything: salsa, funk, metal, jazz, R&B. Together, they’ll whip out a grooving, electric-fueled surprise as one half of Space Craft’s Saturday doubleheader. Power duo Rafael Tranquilino and Leah Tussing follow with rock’n’roll grit and searing riffs. Show starts at 8 p.m. Tix here.
Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra takes on tall tales and mythical creatures at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday with Stravinsky’s “Berceuse” and “Finale” from “The Firebird,” selections from Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake,” Sibelius’ “Overture to Karelia,” and Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition,” which was inspired by paintings of Baba Yaga, the Slavic witch. Maestro Wesley Schulz will provide all the fun details in a pre-concert chat at 2:15 p.m. Sunday. Tix here.
The Bainbridge Blab is your one-stop spot to get the 411 on all things 98110.
