To the editor:

Vote NO on Proposition 1. It’s a $15 million budding catastrophe.

I haven’t seen anything mentioned about, if you build a police station next to city hall, what if the police try to leave the station when traffic backs up on Madison, as if always does when a ferry comes in?

And then there’s the wait at the roundabout, especially when students use the crosswalks. Or, even worse, what if the police try to get anyplace via Winslow Way, always busy during the day — people darting across the street, hold ups for cars parking, lines forming to turn into T& C etc. etc.? A life could be lost, or a crime committed, or a culprit get away while our police are trapped by traffic.

Best to build near the fire station or rebuild where they are now, so police can respond quickly to a call for help.
