Bloedel Reserve welcomes spooky guests

At night, the forest is full of strange wonders, like the peering eyes and shrill cries of nocturnal hunters. But this Saturday, Oct. 24, the unfamiliar is made known as West Sound Wildlife Shelter takes over the Bloedel Reserve, presenting an evening walk with special, spooky guests.
WSWS animal handlers will introduce you to an opossum, a vulture, an owl and more while explaining each animal’s unique characteristics.
Guided tours of the grounds leave every 15 minutes from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Those afraid of the dark are encouraged to sign up for an earlier tour. Evening guests should bring flashlights for easy maneuvering.
Tickets are available exclusively at www.westsoundwildlife.org. They cost $10 for walkers ages 13 and older and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Admission is free for children younger than 4.
While you’re there, you might spot a pumpkin or two – or 300! Now through Sunday, Nov. 1, the reserve is hosting its Super Squash Scavenger Hunt, which is included with admission. Children will given a special map to find the hidden gourds and will receive a prize upon completion. Visit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Tuesday through Sunday.
