The Bainbridge Island Art Museum and Kids Discovery Museum will host Family Art Day — a day full of art activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 18. The event will take place on the plaza between BIMA and KiDiMu.
The day will include artist demonstrations, music and performances and family-friendly fare. In addition, both museums will be offering free admission.
Family Art Day is a community-wide event that will bring together a plethora of regional partners to provide hands-on art activities; the Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District, Bainbridge Performing Arts, Bloedel Reserve, Bricks 4 Kidz, Coates Design Architects, KitsapArt – School of the Arts, Kitsap Regional Library and Paper Products.
The celebration is sponsored by A.Y. Petter Family Advised Fund at Kitsap Community Foundation, Leslie & Michael Lebeau Philanthropic Fund at Bainbridge Community Foundation and Bainbridge Community Foundation.
“We love Family Art Day,” said BIMA’s education director Kristin Tollefson. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to experience and make art in a collaborative, community-centered environment.”
KiDiMu echoed BIMA’s sentiments regarding this community-centered event.
“We welcome this opportunity to partner once again with the arts community in celebrating families and art on Bainbridge Island,” said KiDiMu’s executive director Susie Burdick.
