BPA announces mainstage auditions

Bainbridge Performing Arts will host combined summer audition sessions for the 2015-16 season from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 20 and Tuesday, July 28.
Interested parties are requested to email BPA’s production/stage manager Deirdre Hadlock at dhadlock@bainbridgeperformingarts.org to schedule an appointment.
The iconic rock-musical “Hair”, directed by Teresa Thuman, will run Oct. 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25, with a Pay-What-You-Can Preview on Oct. 8 and Industry Night on Oct. 19.
Rehearsals are Aug. 22 through Oct. 8: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., plus Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
BPA is seeking five principle women, five principle men and a tribe of 20 to 35 adults to play more than 50 characters.
Actors must be 18 and older.
A widely diverse cast, including gender identity, age, and ethnicity is strongly desired for this production as several specific roles require performers of color.
Actors who play musical instruments are encouraged to audition.
There will be full and partial nudity in this production, however this is not a prerequisite for being cast and the audition forms will include an opportunity for actors to express their comfort level.
“Mary Poppins,” directed by Ken Michels, runs Dec. 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20, with a Pay-What-You-Can Preview Dec. 3 and Industry Night on Dec. 14.
Rehearsals will be from Sept. 26 through Dec. 3, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
BPA is seeking 10 principle men, 10 principle women and an ensemble of six or more teens and adults. This production will also feature a 9-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, as well as a youth ensemble.
Auditions will be held Sept. 16 for all youth roles, ages 9 to 15.
Audition requirements: Prepare a 1- to 2-minute monologue and 32 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece. An accompanist will be provided, but hopefuls must bring sheet music clearly marked and in a three-ring binder.
There will be no outside accompanists or acapella singing.
All roles are open to audition.
