Dump consultants from out of state | LETTER TO THE EDITOR

To the editor:
I hope that I am only one of the more than 20,000 people who live on the island that is offended by the fact that an out-of-state firm was hired to create a logo for our island.
We have an entire community of artists who live here, offer their services and many times volunteer those services to better our understanding and participation in the arts.
Forget the axes, the logo offered up is boring and in no way telling of our community. I understand the need of some simplicity in order for it to be used for letterhead, signage, etc. I am not an artist by any sense of my imagination, but I am sure that I could come up with something that represents Bainbridge Island far better than what was presented.
Dump the consultants, open it up to public offerings and let us choose from our local artists what best represents us.
Oh, and the $22,500; it goes to a deserving local community member and generates sustainability at home.
City of Bainbridge Island, what were you thinking?
