Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.
Saturday, March 14
5 p.m. A Bainbridge woman called police after her collie dog Rusty was missing or possibly stolen.
The woman said she let her dog outside at about 6 a.m. Jan. 7, but he failed to come home as he usually does when she starts her car to go to work. The woman said her back yard was not fenced and the dog sometimes wanders.
She said she put up signs all over Bainbridge and put notices on Craigslist, but has still not been reunited with her dog. Rusty is a 10-year-old purebred, but is on medication for epilepsy and arthritis.
The woman also said she hired Three Retrievers lost pet rescue to come to the island to look for Rusty. Tracking dogs found two scents, and one went to a parking lot and was lost, and the other trail led to the property of a shut-in who does not let people onto his property.
The woman said when Rusty was still in the neighborhood she and several other neighbors received four or so anonymous letters from someone in the neighborhood who didn’t appreciate the nuisance barking of the dogs in the neighborhood. The letters listed dates and times dogs were barking.
The woman also noted that two delivery people from Macy’s had been at her home and had asked about the dog in December, but she wasn’t sure if that was relevant to the case.

12:58 a.m. A 50-year-old Bainbridge woman was driving south on Highway 305 in a 2007 Toyota when she pulled off to the side of the road near Sportsman Club Road after she realized she had forgotten something at home.
She started to make a U-turn on Highway 305 and was hit by a 51-year-old woman in a Mini Cooper.
Both cars were damaged and the first driver was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
Neither vehicle was towed.
9:45 p.m. An officer noticed damage near the parking lot of Pritchard Park that was caused by someone four-wheeling on the eastern side of the lot.
It appeared someone with a beefy-tired vehicle drove over a steep and muddy hill above the parking lot and left deep gouges.

He said he had left his vehicle around 8:30 a.m. and returned at 1:40 p.m and noticed the broken window. The damage to the window was estimated at $300.
