Island couple celebrates 70th wedding anniversary

Russell and Betty Heald celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family on April 13, 2013 at a special dinner held at The Four Swallows restaurant on Bainbridge Island.

The couple married on April 11, 1943.

Russ was a teacher for 30 years in the Kitsap School District and taught at North Kitsap High and Bainbridge High, and Betty worked as the School Secretary at BHS during the 1950s until she went to Seattle and worked for the State Court of Appeals.

The Bainbridge couple are now grandparents to four grandchildren and great-grandparents to five.
