Spartans win 10-0 in girls soccer

The Spartans overpowered Chief Sealth 10-0 in their girls soccer season opener Tuesday in Seattle.

Junior midfielder/forward Natalie Vukic started the scoring for the Spartans at the 2-minute mark.

Vukic finished with three goals, the next coming three minutes later with an assist from Riley Gregoire to put Bainbridge ahead 2-0.

Gregoire then scored at the 11-minute mark off a feed from team co-captian Sarah Berschinski.

Berschinski put Bainbridge up 4-0 with an assist from Faith Campbell (14th minute).

Junior midfielder Claire Marcum nailed the net with an assist from senior forward Rosie Kerstetter (18th minute) and the Spartans led 5-0.

Bainbridge followed with additional goals by team co-captain Haley Story (21st minute), Vukic (Ali Blake, 30th minute), Kerstetter (Holly Furner, 39th minute), Kerstetter (Vukic, 53rd minute) and Kamie Coryell (Allie Snare, 78th minute).

Goalkeeper Ali Blake earned the shutout for Bainbridge.

The Spartans play their first home game Saturday, Sept. 8 at Bainbridge High Stadium against Garfield. The match begins at 7 p.m.

Next week, Bainbridge plays three matches, with two on the road.

The Spartans will play Monday, Sept. 10 at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, followed by a home match Tuesday, Sept. 11 against Nathan Hale.

Bainbridge will close out the week by facing Holy Names Academy on Thursday, Sept. 13 in Seattle.
