The Bainbridge girls soccer team had a strong start to the season, but have hit a bit of a lull.

Head coach Scott Druker said they’ve been keeping their “shape,” or keeping its formation on the field, but haven’t gotten the shots when they needed them.

“That’s been a work in progress the past week is trying to create those [scoring] opportunities,” he said.

Against Eastside Catholic Tuesday, the Spartans used a 4-2-3-1 formation to create many opportunities, but couldn’t convert them.

In the 55th minute, Rosie Kerstetter finally put Bainbridge on the board with a putback of a deflected shot by Morgan Moniz.

Natalie Vukic scored another goal when she dribbled right through the Crusader defense and lifted a shot over the arms of goalkeeper Lauren Thomas in the 64th minute.

Eastside Catholic scored in the 71st minute when Emily Franceschina blasted one in from 20 yards out, but Bainbridge held on and earned three points to keep pace in the Mountain Division.

“There are a few tweeks [needed] here and there on some positions, but they’re starting to understand the system,” Druker said.
