Baseball

9-10 All Stars: In a Bainbridge Blue vs. Gold showdown, the Blue came out on top 2-1 Friday. With the win, the Blue advanced to the District 2 championship and faced North Kitsap National, the team they had fallen to 8-3 in their previous match-up. The Nationals edged Bainbridge Blue 6-5 to secure the district title Saturday.

10-11 All Stars: Bainbridge continued its dominance in the District 2 tournament Friday, recording its second shutout by blowing out South Kitsap Southern 13-0 in the championship. Bainbridge advances to the state tournament July 17-24 in Selah.

Majors: Bainbridge opened tournament play against East/South Jefferson. Bainbridge took an early 3-0 lead as a Nick Ruggerio hit a bases-clearing home run, bringing in David Wellbrock and Jack Kramer. Bainbridge had 21 hits and seven home runs from seven different batters for a 30-0 4-inning win.

In its second game Saturday, Bainbridge took on Sequim.

“It was a pitchers duel for the first three innings,” Bainbridge All Stars Manager Greg Wellbrock said. Sequim replaced its starting pitcher in the top of the fourth, and Bainbridge scored four more runs for a 7-0 win. Bainbridge’s pitching arsenal of Richard Carrillo, David Wellbrock and Nate Boegl struck out 14 batters and gave up just one hit in the win.

Bainbridge suffered its first loss of the tournament to Gig Harbor Tuesday, 12-1 and will face North Kitsap National at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Softball

9-10 All Stars: After winning two in a row, Bainbridge’s district tournament run ended with a 9-5 loss to East Jefferson/South Jefferson/Port Townsend Friday.

10-11 All Stars: After rebounding to defeat Gig Harbor American/National 28-13 Thursday, Bainbridge fell to Sequim 7-5 in the district championship Saturday.

Majors: After falling to East Jefferson 12-3 Thursday, Bainbridge rallied to defeat North Kitsap American and to earn a championship berth. Bainbridge topped North Kitsap 12-2 Friday, then returned a day later to face East Jefferson again in the championship. But East Jefferson came out victorious again, claiming the title with a 8-4 victory.
