Hood Canal Bridge reopened to traffic late Wednesday night, after Department of Transportation crews finished tests of the newly installed center span.

Work on the $500 million project was finished eight days ahead of DOT’s projected completion date. The bridge had been closed since May 1.

An official ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate this major milestone will be held at Salsbury Point County Park, near State Route 104 just off State Route 3, at 11 a.m. June 6.

DOT will continue to provide modified transportation services Thursday and Friday to help travelers return to their normal commute. The Port Townsend to Edmonds car ferry service ends after the Wednesday night run. Drivers can plan ahead by visiting www.HoodCanalBridge.com or by calling 1-877-595-4222.
