Brooke Williams, a student at Woodward Middle School competing for Cascade Elite Gymnastics in Mountlake Terrace, qualified at the USA Gymnastics Region 2 Championships held this past weekend at the Warehouse in Spokane for the Region 2 Western Championships Team.
Williams competed in the Washington State Level 9 Gymnastics Championships March 29 with acute Achilles tendinitis, but with help from pediatrician Dr. Thomas Monk and the physical therapists at Kitsap Physical Therapy, her injury was treated and under control for the regional championships.
Williams placed fifth in the all-around competition of the Level 9 Junior B division with a total score of 36.500, which placed her on the Junior B Western Championships Region 2 Team.
She placed seventh on the vault with a score of 8.9, fifth on the parallel uneven bars with a score of 8.9, third on the floor exercise with a score of 9.375 and fourth on the balance beam with a score of 9.325.
