Four BHS runners are WA XC All Stars

BAINBIDGE – Audrey Weaver, Jackie McVay, Naomi von Ruden and Jacob Carlson have been named to the 2-17 Washington Cross Country East West All Star roster.

The annual All Star Race is to be held on a fast 5k road course in conjunction with the Run of the Mill 5k on Saturday, June 24 in Mill Creek. Race information and athlete rosters for this year’s boys and girls teams are available at www.watfxc.com.

The All Star Race was established by the Washington State Cross Country Coaches Association to recognize the accomplishments of graduating seniors who have excelled in the sport of cross country. The team is made up of the top graduating male and female runners from all five high school classifications.

Coaches can recommend a non-state competing senior student to the team also, one who has met the time standard of 17:15/21:30 for 5K. Non all star seniors can participate in the Run of the Mill 5K.

In past years, Bainbridge High cross country runners have set some fresh 5k personal records on this relatively fast out-and-back course, said BHS Head Coach Anne Howard Lindquist. Several BIXC competitors have also been awarded college scholarships from the WSCCCA at the All Star Race.

For those younger students interested in the sport of cross country, the annual Cross Country Waffles and Info Feed for new, curious and returning runners and their families will happen from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, June 4 at the Battle Point Part picnic shelter. Summer training info, basics about the season, next fall’s competition schedule and breakfast will be shared.
