BHS boys bested by O’Dea in debut match

The Bainbridge High School varsity boys golf team played through the rain Monday in their first match of the year at Wing Point Golf & Country Club against O’Dea, and were ultimately defeated 128-121.

Only the scores of the top six players count toward the team total, but BHS’s eight duffers still came up slightly short against the Fighting Irish seven.

The top Spartan scorer of the match was Ben Chapman (40; 23 points)

Zach Cooper shot a 41 at the island team’s home course, while both Parker Loverich and Jasiah George managed 42.

Nicholas Zambrano shot a 43; Owen Rector, 49; Taylor Bjur, 50; and Jack Bennett, 55.

The team will next face off, again at home, against Lakeside at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16.
