LT. Israel A. Magneson

Israel Arn Magneson was born Nov. 21, 1976 in Berlin, Germany and passed away on Dec. 8, 2016, in Stuttgart, Germany.

He grew up in Bremerton, Washington, and was active in cross country, wrestling and track, earning 12 letters in his high school career. He was also student body president and an Eagle Scout.

Israel served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his place of birth, Berlin, Germany. He was very proficient in German.

Israel obtained his master‚ degree in finance from Colorado Technical University.

Israel found great satisfaction working in the Special Operations Group of the U.S. Navy both in Hawaii and elsewhere. He was known for outrunning and out swimming Navy Seals. Much of his employment during the past few years had been of a classified nature.

Israel is survived by his mother and father, Dona and Dale of Bremerton; his older brother, David of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister, Naomi M. Johnson, of Silverdale; his nephew, Aaron R. Johnson of Payson, Utah; his niece Alison R. Johnson of Coos Bay, Oregon; and his grandnephew, Keefe R. Johnson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ward building at 2225 Perry Ave. in Bremerton.
