Aimee Francis

Aimee Elizabeth Francis

January 25, 1952 – September 30, 2016

Born on January 25, 1952 in El Paso, Texas. Died September 30, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.

Aimee Francis was a long time resident of Bainbridge Island, she moved here with her family from Anchorage, Alaska in March 1986. She was my wife of 44 years, mother of five, step mother of one and second mother to dozens of kids who grew up on this island for the entire time she lived here. She had an immense capacity for love, especially for the children, and anyone who was lucky enough to find their way to her welcoming and open arms will attest to that. She was their mentor and confidant, shared their secrets and joys, gave them advice and encouragement and was always available to cook them a meal whenever they set foot in our home. During her time in Alaska she gave birth to our five amazing children but also found time to be a childbirth instructor, and she was present during the birth of over 100 of her students children. She also founded and ran her restaurant, “Sweet Aimee’s Café” until the birth of our twins in 1984. She is survived and lovingly remembered by husband Ted and by her children Chris Francis, Nicholas Francis, Alexander Francis, Isaac Francis, Phillip Francis, Natasha Francis and their spouses Lacy, Jaicee, Chandra and Brenda, and by her mother and father who are still alive in Anchorage at the age of 92 and 90, LT. Col.Ted and Mary Pat Heller, her sister Mary Patricia Heller and her brother Bruce. And last but by no means least by the ones she loved beyond description, her 11 Grandchildren, and by many and numerous relatives and friends all over the world.

The light from her smile and laughter brightened this world for 64 short years, and I am proud and grateful to have been able to stand by her side, be loved by her and love her during our time together.

A memorial and celebration of her life will be held on October 22, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church, 8595 NE Day E, Bainbridge Island, WA . from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Any one that wishes to say goodbye to this wonderful woman are invited to attend.
