Bainbridge blotter | Distracted teen driver

Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter.

TUESDAY, NOV. 20

5:49 p.m. A two-car collision at the intersection of Highway 305 and Seabold Road and West Port Madison Avenue resulted in damage to both vehicles but no injuries.

A 17-year-old Bainbridge Island girl was driving a 1997 Honda CR-V north in heavy traffic. She began to take a drink from a bottle of water, lost sight of the road and did not see the car in front of her had stopped for traffic in the intersection.

She attempted to brake but struck the rear of a 1977 Ford F-150, driven by a Bremerton man. The truck’s trailer hitch punctured the Honda’s radiator and the two vehicles were stuck together until the hitch was removed.
