To the editor:

When I look at the candidates for council, one of the most important criteria for me is their history.

It’s easy to say you care about our community. It’s easy to say you have great ideas, but who wouldn’t say those things when they are running for office?

A proven record of community involvement is the reason I’m voting for Ted Jones in the South Ward city council race. Ted has shown time and time again that he cares about the people and the environment of our beautiful island. He’s volunteered his time even while pursuing a demanding career and raising a family. He’s worked on environmental issues for years and has spoken out on the important social issues that concern us all.

Ted also has the engineering background to take a hard look at what we are building with taxpayer money and the true costs

I think this unique combination of needed technical know-how and a clearly proven environmental commitment is just what we need in our council members. I’m excited to vote for Ted.
