Two dozen restaurants on Bainbridge Island have received a “100% Club” food safety award from the Kitsap Public Health District, health officials announced Wednesday.

The award is given to restaurants that have distinguished themselves by practicing excellent food safety methods.

Health officials said there are more than 500 food establishments in the county that are currently permitted by the health district that are categorized as a restaurant, and a total of 182 restaurants in Kitsap County received the honor.

The restaurant category contains quick-service and full-service restaurants, and take-out establishments, including supermarket delis.

In order to be eligible for the award, restaurants must have received a score of 100 percent on their last two consecutive routine inspections.

Eligible restaurants also had no confirmed or suspected foodborne illness incidents during the past year; no closures ordered by the health district on imminent health hazard concners; and no complaints that were confirmed as violations during the past year. Winning restaurants were also hooked up to an approved water source and approved on-site sewage system or sewer.

The 100% Club awardees on Bainbridge Island are Wing Point Golf And Country Club, Bainbridge Island Barbeque, Casa Rojas Express, McDonald’s, Safeway (deli), Safeway (sushi), Sawan Thai Kitchen, Inc., Subi Japanese Restaurant, Subway, That’sa Some Pizza, Town & Country Market (deli), Westside Pizza, Bainbridge Athletic Club, Bainbridge Thai Cuisine, Cafe Nola, Doc’s Marina Grill, Emmy’s Vege House, Fork & Spoon, Meadowmeer Golf & Country Club, Rolling Bay Café, Roosters Café, Sawatdy Thai Cuisine, Streamliner Diner and Teriyaki Town.
