Spartans take third place at XC meet

The Bainbridge High cross country team ran their way into third place in both the varsity mens and open (JV and varsity) womens divisions at a cross country meet on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Lincoln Park in Seattle against runners from Nathan Hale, Bishop Blanchet, Franklin and Lakeside.

SEATTLE – The Bainbridge High cross country team ran their way into third place in both the varsity mens and open (JV and varsity) womens divisions at a cross country meet on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at Lincoln Park in Seattle against runners from Nathan Hale, Bishop Blanchet, Franklin and Lakeside.

In the womens bracket, Bainbridge finished with 71 points, behind Blanchet (21) and Nathan Hale (55).

Kalea Chu was the speediest Spartan of the bunch, and the only female runner to break the top 10, finishing in 22:05.9.

In the mens bracket, the Spartans finished with 90 points, behind Nathan Hale (20) and Blanchet (61).

Bainbridge’s Ryan Cox was the fastest runner overall (17:19.7), and the only island male runner to break the top 10. The Spartans will host their first and only home meet at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 at Battle Point Park.
