Spartans take fourth at invite

The Bainbridge Spartans boys swimming & diving team finished in fourth place at the highly competitive Kentridge Invitational.

Bainbridge had 403 points.

First place went to Mercer Island (737), followed by Kamiak in second (454.50) and Issaquah in third (415.83).

Bainbridge saw a number of outstanding performances during the invite.

The Spartans started off with a second place in the 200-yard medley relay.

The foursome of Andrew Witty, Tyler Stewart, Ben Cohen and Jude Wenker finished in 1:36.63.

Other standout performances included Ian Longridge in the 200-yard individual medley (eighth place, 2:00.64); Wenker in the 50-yard freestyle (third place, 21.34); and Stewart (fourth place, 52.74) and Witty (eighth place, 53.71) in the 100-yard butterfly.

Wenker also raced to fourth place in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 4:49.57.

The Spartans’ Ian Lipton claimed fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke. He finished in 54.21.

Witty also won a top spot — fourth place — in the 100-yard breaststroke. He finished in 58.66.

Two Spartan divers finished in the top 10 at the invitational.

Kiernan Liberman was fourth with a finals score of 466.90, and Brian Taylor was seventh with a total of 374.55.

Bainbridge came in second in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The team of Ian Lipton, Steward, Witty, and Wenker notched a time of 3:12.69 in the event.
