Spartans stop Sealth in three innings

The Spartans swamped Chief Sealth 17-0 in girls varsity fastpitch softball in a run-rule shortened Metro League matchup Monday in Seattle.

Bainbridge did not quite beat the rain before ending the game by run rule after three innings.

The Spartans jumped to a 9-0 lead in the top of the first, added two in the second, and closed out the scoring with six in the third.

All 18 players got into the game one way or another, as a pinch hitter, courtesy runner or as a replacement in the field.

Malia Peato continued her hot hitting. She is now 14-for-18 with a walk in her last 19 plate appearances. In that span she has hit five home runs, a triple and a double, driving in 12 runs.

Peato picked up the win in the circle, pitching a no-hitter (with the run rule asterisk).

Ruby Raymundo went 3-for-3 at the plate against Chief Sealth. She had a triple, three RBIs, and three runs.

Natalie Gillatt finished 1-for-1, with a triple, RBI, and run scored.

Teammate Hayden Jobes was 2-for-3, and Kylie Bushnell was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

The win improved the Spartans’ season record to 8-3 (8-2 Metro League).
