The Spartans edged the Rough Riders 98-87 in boys varsity swimming and diving late last week with big wins in the meet’s last two races: the 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Bainbridge placed first in seven of 12 events in the Metro League meet against Roosevelt last Friday at Evans Pool in Seattle.
The Spartans dominated in the 200-yard freestyle, and placed first, second and third in the race.
Sam Chapman took first with a time of 1:59.09, followed by Adrien Chaussabel (2:00.16) and Max Eyrich (2:00.67).
Bainbridge also won first and second place in diving.
Dylan Garthwaite won with a finals score of 264.10; fellow Spartan Kiernan Liberman was second with 204.45.
Henry Bacon won the 100-yard freestyle for BHS with a time of 53.97.
The Spartans also went one, two in the 500-yard freestyle.
Tristan Maass won the race in 5:27.35, and Chaussabel claimed second place for BHS in 5:36.91.
Bainbridge won the 100-yard backstroke, courtesy of John Velisaris, who placed first in 58.74.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Carter Hall was first for Bainbridge with a finals time of 1:06.98.
The foursome of Velisaris, Chaussebel, Bacon and Eyrich won the 400-yard freestyle relay with a first-place time of 3:36.57.
The Spartans will return to Bainbridge to host their first home meet of the season at the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center on Friday, Dec. 16.
Warmups for the meet with Garfield High start at 3 p.m., with races starting at 3:30.
