BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans rebounded from a back-and-fourth first half to upend Snohomish 23-11 in girls varsity lacrosse Tuesday.
Bainbridge jumped out to a 6-0 lead with little more than eight minutes gone in the game only to see Snohomish battle back and take a 9-8 lead just past the midway mark of the half.
The Spartans’ Mackenzie Chapman evened the contest for Bainbridge at 9-all with six minutes left before the break, and she scored the go-ahead goal two minutes later to put BHS ahead for good.
The Bainbridge defense came alive in the second half, as the Spartans limited Snohomish to a single goal in the final 25 minutes.
Chapman finished with 10 goals and four assists for the Spartans. She also won 11 draws.
Sophia Hagstromer helped spark the Spartan offense with another six goals, and also dished three assists.
Eleanor Collins, Kendal Havill and Kiera Havill contributed two goals each for BHS. (Kendall Havill added three groundballs, four draws and a caused turnover, while Kiera Havill had two assists, a groundball, three draws and three caused turnovers.) Maggie Sweeney also scored for Bainbridge.
Spartan goalie Thuy Ortiz finished with seven saves in a game that saw 18 Snohomish shots on goal.
Bainbridge improved to 3-0 with the win.
