SEATTLE – Holy Names Academy slipped past Bainbridge in girls varsity gymnastics late last week as the Cougars scratched out a Metro League victory at West Seattle High.
Holy Names finished with a total of 172.15 points, followed by Bainbridge with 167.6 and West Seattle with 134.55.
SiQi Talley finished in sixth place in the vault for Bainbridge, with a score of 8.40.
On uneven bars, the Spartans were paced by a first place finish by Remi Rosencrans, who had an 8.90. Talley was fourth (8.50).
Bainbridge did best on beam, with Brianna Bruyere scoring an impressive 9.30 for first place.
Fellow Spartans Mariko Ronan (8.55) and Karena Klinkenberg (8.50) finished third and fourth, respectively.
On the floor exercise, Rosencrans scored a 9.30 and tied for third. Emma Chee placed fifth with a score of 9.00.
And in all around scores, Rosencrans won fourth place for BHS (34.10), and was followed by a fifth-place tie between Mariko Ronan and Chee (32.65).
The Spartans continue their road swing in Seattle with a matchup Friday against Ballard and Chief Sealth before returning home on Jan. 27 for a date with West Seattle and Sealth.
