BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans’ perfect season came to an unfortunate end late last week as Lake Sammamish thwarted Bainbridge’s bid to make it into the state semifinals in girls varsity lacrosse.

Lake Samm outlasted the Spartans 13-11 in an intense battle at Memorial Stadium that saw the Eagles avenge their 12-11 loss to Bainbridge in late April.

The game was tied at 6-all after the first half.

The Eagles started the second half strong scoring at 3:30 in, but that’s when Sonia Olson answered for the Spartans to knot the score again at 7-7.

Bainbridge lost the momentum to Lake Samm, who went on a scoring binge with five unanswered goals.

With more than 8 minutes left in the second half, the Spartans began making goals, but it proved too late to make up the difference.

Olson and Sophia Hagstromer led the team with three goals each.

Amy Willerford contributed two goals for the Spartans while Kiera Havill, Maggie Sweeney and Robin Hilderman scored one goal apiece.

Havill and Hilderman each had four draw controls, while Sweeney had three and Olson added two.

BHS defender Hannah Maroni also had one draw control.

Korbyn Stahl led the Eagles with three goals and two assists.
