Spartans beat Sealth in home debut

Returning from a recent round of victories on the road to their first home match of the year, the Bainbridge High varsity boys golf team beat up Chief Sealth in their third win of the season.

BAINBRIDGE – Returning from a recent round of victories on the road to their first home match of the year, the Bainbridge High varsity boys golf team beat up Chief Sealth in their third win of the season.

Bainbridge bested Sealth in a landslide 137-17 win at Wing Point Golf & Country Club Thursday, Sept. 24.

“We had a victorious week, defeating both O’Dea and Chief Sealth,” said Spartan Head Coach Joe Lanza. “We scored a lot of points at Jefferson on Tuesday [but] then played down to our opponent a bit on Thursday [against] Chief Sealth.”

The day’s top points-earner was Nate Boegl, who finished the day with 28 points and a score of 34 on the Par 35 course.

Team captain Sam Warkentin managed 27 points and scored exactly 35, both Charlie Hoberg and Brooks Lierle chipped in 23 points and Thomas Crowley and Colin Campbell each finished with 18 points.

Lanza said that the team was off to a great season start.

“I am pleased with how hard these players are working,” he said.
