BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge Spartans triumphed against Shorecrest and Shorwood in girls gymnastics late last week at home.
Bainbridge won with a total score of 166.6. Shorecrest was second with 135.15, while Shorwood was third with 131.0.
The Spartans won in every event, and did best once again on the floor exercise.
The closest competition was in the vault, where Bainbridge won with 41.9, while Shorecrest had 36.5 and Shorwood, 36.35.
On bars, Bainbridge scored 39.75, followed by Shorecrest (29.85) and Shorwood (25.05).
The Spartans won on beam, finishing in front with 40.45.
Shorecrest again followed in second, 34.8, and then Shorwood, 34.1.
Bainbridge had another standout score on floor, where the Spartans finished with their best combined mark of the night at 44.5.
Shorwood was second (35.5) followed by Shorecrest (34.1).
SiQi Talley made it another memorable night for the Spartans. She scored 9s in three events and placed first; uneven parallel bars, balance beam and floor exercise.
The Spartan sensation also placed first in the vault with a score of 36.3.
Morgan Dierickx tied for second at 8.35 in the vault with Shorwood’s Christina Warner.
On bars, Talley had a 9.15 and was followed close behind by teammate Remi Rosencrans’ 9.0.
On beam, Talley was first with 9.15, with Althea Pippinger winning second place with a score of 8.0.
Talley received another first on floor, and a 9.2.
Rosencrans also excelled, with a 9.1 for second place.
Talley finished the night as the all-around champ, with a total of 36.3.
Rosencrans was second (33.5) followed by Spartan sisters Dierickx (33.5) and Emma Chee (31.25).
The Spartans will return to competition after the holiday break on Friday, Jan. 6 for a Metro meet at home against Ingraham, Cleveland and Garfield.
