Lake Sammamish club slips past Bainbridge 10th girls LAX win

A big second half helped Lake Sammamish escape with a 10-8 win over the Spartans in girls varsity lacrosse late last week.

BAINBRIDGE – A big second half helped Lake Sammamish escape with a 10-8 win over the Spartans in girls varsity lacrosse late last week.

The combined Lake Sammamish team used goals from Lake Washington freshman Sara Wyrick, Woodinville senior Alexandra Johnson, Inglemoor senior Emily Sokol and Redmond senior Amelia Chirichigno to deal the Spartans their second loss of the season.

The two teams were knotted 4-4 at the half.

Lake Sammamish picked up its 10th win of the year by outscoring Bainbridge 6-4 in the second half.

Sallie Marx led the Spartans with four goals. She also had two ground balls, three draw controls and one caused turnover.

Sonia Olson added three goals and one ground ball to the Bainbridge effort. Fellow Spartan Kyra Wortley contributed three ground balls, seven draw controls and two caused turnovers.

Kelly Coffyn finished with five saves for Bainbridge in the net, and McKenzie Scott had two saves.

The loss moved Bainbridge’s record on the season to 6-2-2.
