Former Bainbridge Spartan lacrosse standout Jake Knostman has been named as one of the team captains for the Fairfield University mens lacrosse team this year.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Former Bainbridge Spartan lacrosse standout Jake Knostman has been named as one of the team captains for the Fairfield University mens lacrosse team this year.

The Stags recently announced the four student-athletes who will serve as team captains for the 2016 season.

Head Coach Andy Copelan has selected junior Jake Knostman and seniors TJ Neubauer, Conor Barr and Charlie Schnider to lead the Stags this spring.

“We’re excited about many things this year, and our leadership is certainly one of those things,” Copelan said. “TJ, Conor, Charlie and Jake have set a good example both on and off the field and we trust that that will continue.”

“I’m proud of these guys for emerging as the faces of this year’s team, and I’m equally proud of our team for selecting their leaders wisely,” the coach said.

Knostman will help to guide Fairfield as a junior following a sophomore campaign in which he netted 16 goals and dished out three assists for the Stags.

Knostman earned a CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award in 2015 and was an ECAC All-Academic pick in 2014.

This season, the Stags return 28 student-athletes from the 2015 squad that won the CAA regular season title and merited a USILA national ranking for the fourth consecutive campaign.
