Kickers get big win at EC
After two losses to North Kitsap and West Seattle, the Bainbridge girls’ soccer team needed a big performance to keep from losing any more ground in the Metro League Mountain Division.
Annaliese Gross was the right person for the job, as she scored the only two goals in the Spartans’ 2-0 win over Eastside Catholic Thursday.
The senior midfielder scored in the 14th minute off a cross pass that was deflected off the Crusader goalkeeper.
In the 68th minute, Gross scored just inside the box off an assist from Melissa Hoshizaki.
Kendyl Daniels got the shutout.
Against the Wildcats on Tuesday, the Spartans allowed the only goal on a penalty kick.
Against the Vikings on Monday, Haylee Baker, Kelly Crane and Christina Crowley all scored in a back and forth affair between both teams.
The junior varsity girls hasn’t let up in its scoring deluge, winning three more games by four or more goals.
Against North Kitsap on Monday, Bainbridge won 6-1.
Morgan Moniz scored two goals while Maddy Midas, Hana Newman, Lilly Louden-Mosio and Rowan Denis added one.
Wesley Nottingham, Midas, Sara Lukins and Bea Sheffer all had assists.
Against West Seattle, the Spartans won 7-1.
Bryton Wildsmith, Moniz, Hana Newman, Courtney Odell, Midas, Veronica Saez and Nottingham all scored while Miranda Smith had two assists. Wildsmith and Sheffer also had assists.
Against Eastside Catholic, Bainbridge won 5-1.
Odell had a hat trick while Midas and Moniz scored as well.
The varsity (1-1, 3-3) hosts Holy Names next Tuesday while the JV (6-0) head to Seattle to play the Cougars.

Golfers keep winning
Both Bainbridge golf teams continued to earn wins.
The boys’ team ran its record to 5-0 with a victory over Lakeside Tuesday by the score of 156-111.
Kyle Hurt earned medalist honors with his score of a three-under 33 for 29 Stableford points.
Kyle Leonard shot a two under 34 for 28 points while Kyle Schneider shot a 36 for 26 points.
Bobby Griffin and Jack Seidl each shot a 37 for 25 points while Davis Harrison added a 39 for 23 points.
Will Whealdon shot a 40 for 22 points and Rusty Furth shot a 41 for 21 points.
For the girls, they also defeated the Lions by the score of 116-33.
Anna Bourland shot a three-over 39 for 33 Stableford points.
She finished with six pars on the day.
Ryan Nottingham shot a four over 40 and scored 32 points. Despite hitting her first shot out of bounds, she rebounded to car six pars.
Peyton Lunzer also overcame a penalty stroke to card two pars and two birdies en route to scoring 29 points.
Jasmine Shattuck and Julia Gross scored 22 and 21 points, respectively.
Both golf teams travel to Seattle Monday to face West Seattle, then the boys take on defending state champs O’Dea while the girls host Holy Names at Wing Point Tuesday at 3 p.m.
