SEATTLE – The first match of the year was an easy victory for the Bainbridge High varsity girls golf team.
The squad traveled to Seattle to face off against Chief Sealth Thursday, Sept. 8, but their opponent had no players eligible to compete.
The Spartans played the course regardless, racking up a team score of 105.
Though perhaps technically not a forfeit, explained Spartan Head Coach Ian Havill, the win was certainly an early boost for the Bainbridge team.
“I’m not sure if it is really a forfeit,” he said. “They are keeping scoring averages this year for all Metro first and second teams. So I asked to input the score for our match.”
