Gear Grinders take fourth at Roslyn Roundup

ROSLYN – The Gear Grinders, Bainbridge Island’s composite mountain bike team, raced to another strong finish Sunday, May 7 at the Roslyn Roundup, the third of four Washington Student Cycling League races of the 2017 season.

More than 300 mountain bike racers from across Washington, many of whom camped at Roslyn during the race weekend, competed under cold, blue skies on steep, sandy, single track trails in the eastern Cascades.

The Gear Grinders high school team placed an impressive fourth out of 23 teams, and the middle school team placed a strong seventh out of 20 teams.

Gear Grinder middle school team members earning medals and places on the podium in their race categories were: Samantha Campbell, second place in seventh grade girls; Colton Albee, third place in eighth grade boys; and Will Donegan, third place in sixth grade boys.

Also earning significant points for the middle school team were Grant Hoff and Jackson Stoehr.

Racers earning individual points were Edgar Flynn, Nolan Joslin, Erik Hammer, Will Siebert, Max Guerzon, TJ North, Liam Reinders, Max Morse, Henry First and Ben Stone.

High School Gear Grinders winning medals and places on the podium were: Aiyana North, second place in beginner girls; Erin Thackray, third place in beginner girls; and Olivia Cavalluzzi, fifth place in intermediate girls.

Also earning significant points for the high school team were Thomas Schuler and Tessa Vroom.

High school racers earning individual points at the Cle Elum race include Abe Muldrow, Colin Lindquist, Mickie Wilkinson, Will Robertson, Edward Powers, Aidan Brady, Ashlynn Brady, Jake Webber, Max Hale, Connor Lacroix, Duncan Rutherford, Martin Vroom, Tyler Picket and Julian Bonifaci.
