BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge Island youth mountain bike racing team, the Gear Grinders, will host a “Meet the League Ride” event at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Hilltop trail at Grand Forest East.

A “Meet the League Ride” is way for student-athletes, parents, school administrators, and potential new volunteer coaches to come out and meet local League representatives, coaches and student-athletes to see first hand what the League is all about.

The ride is for students who are currently enrolled in sixth through 12th grade in either public, private alternative or home school who are interested in mountain biking as well as any interested adult looking to learn more about the league and local teams.

The event is free.

These events are mostly social and suitable for all fitness and ability levels.

Please bring a mountain bike, helmet and a sense of fun. The ride is rain or shine; dress for weather.

Riders and coaches will meet at Hilltop on Mandus Olsen Road at Grand Forest East.

After introductions by the team captains and coaches, riders will be invited to play some bike games while a responsible adult checks out new riders’ bikes for safety. All riders will then be organized into groups for easy rides on the trails of the Grand Forest.

Approximately one hour will be spent on bikes, the remainder of the time will include bike checks, helmet checks and waiver completion.
