Gear Grinders claim two wins

GIG HARBOR - The Bainbridge Island Gear Grinders competitive youth mountain bike racing team sent two riders to the winners’ podium after their second race of the season Sunday at 360 Park in Gig Harbor.

GIG HARBOR – The Bainbridge Island Gear Grinders competitive youth mountain bike racing team sent two riders to the winners’ podium after their second race of the season Sunday at 360 Park in Gig Harbor.

The event is part of the four-race series put on by the Washington Student Cycling League, which operates mountain bike racing for girls and boys from grades 6 through 12.

The high school team placed two riders on the podium, both Anika Vroom and Tessa Vroom finished second in their categories.

The team’s next race is to take place on Sunday, May 3 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
