BI gymnasts win big at state meet

The Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club girls were on fire at the Spring Compulsory State Meet at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma.

TACOMA – The Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club girls were on fire at the Spring Compulsory State Meet at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma.

The meet was held from April 25 to April 27, and Bainbridge gymnasts in multiple levels placed during the competition.

Avery Gray took fifth place in the Level 3 Bronze Junior A division. Sophia Soltes finished in first place in the Level 3 Bronze Junior C division. Mia Akins claimed eighth place in the Level 3 Silver Junior A Division. Sapphira Akins finished in 10th place in the Level 3 Gold Junior D Division.

Sydney Johnson claimed eighth place in the Level 4 Junior A Division with a solid performance.

Anya Letson, Madison Teran, Nicole Houmes, and Emma Chee also qualified and competed at the Compulsory State Meet.

During the previous month, the girls that compete in Levels 7 through 9 qualified and competed at the Optional State Meet in Everett.

Kati Cooper, Jianna Kaufman, Maria Gallivan and SiQi Talley competed in the Level 7 Division.

Remi Rosencrans competed in the Level 8 Division, and Sarah Rice competed in the Level 9 Division.
