BHS wrestling drops two duals

Bainbridge wrestling found itself on the losing end of two duals Jan. 10 against Lakes and Olympic.

The Spartans began against Lakes, falling 46-24. Bainbridge and Lakes both forfeited at 106, 113, 120 and 126 pounds. Lakes’ Alex Temiton earned an 8-1 decision against Spartan Retto Peato at 132 pounds, and Chris Casio defeated Baha Ali 7-0 at 138 pounds.

Bainbridge’s Zane Turner won the Spartan’s first match at 144 pounds. He defeated Lakes’ Ben Klein 6-4 in sudden victory, after trying in regulation. Wyatt Chabot followed with a second-period pin, and Andrea Berteletti won 5-3 in sudden victory in overtime.

Lakes’ Carson Bailey picked up an 11-2 major decision against Spartan Garret Goade at 175 pounds. The two teams split the final two matches. Spartan Hayden Broom pinned his opponent while Lakes’ Koa Maalaela pinned Orland Santos-Gonzales.

Bainbridge then returned to the mat against Olympic and lost 48-27 to the Trojans.

Trojan Jasiah Masaga pinned Peato at 132 pounds while Ali responded with a 14-5 major decision. Turner won 7-5 at 144 pounds, Tyler Dodge won 10-8 at 150 pounds and Chabot won by pin at 157 pounds.

The last four matches ended within the first three minutes by pin. Olympic’s Miles Brown pinned Berteletti, Goade pinned Thomas Swain, Broom pinned Elijah Lampano and Kevin Hudson pinned Santos-Gonzales.
