BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – The Bainbridge Island Football Club’s Under-13 boys brought home a big win recently and won the Regional Club League’s Division 3 Spring League Premiere-level title.

The team boasted a season record of 5-1-1, scoring a total of 16 points and earning no red cards.

“The Boys U-13 team, coached by Tim Self, is one of the few RCL Premiere level clubs we field,” said BIFC spokesman Johannes Happonen. “This means automatic promotion [for them] to Division 2 for the fall season.”

On a team packed with young up-and-comers, one athlete especially played harder than most and found his way to special recognition.

“Their forward, Evan Starke, was called to represent Washington state at the Olympic Development Program this winter in Arizona,” Happonen said. “[He] is one of the BIFC players to keep an eye on.”
