Bainbridge trio named as scholar-athletes

MCMINNVILLE, OREGON - Three Bainbridge High graduates were recently recognized for both their academic and athletic achievements while attending Linfield College.

MCMINNVILLE, OREGON – Three Bainbridge High graduates were recently recognized for both their academic and athletic achievements while attending Linfield College.

Hannah Depew, Emma Vukic and Erin Kinney have been named as 2014-15 Northwest Conference scholar-athletes.

To be eligible, a student athlete must achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher at the end of the academic year, and must have participated throughout the entire varsity season of at least one sport.

Depew (BHS class of 2009) transferred to Linfield in 2014 and joined the basketball team.  Now a junior, Depew is a nursing student.

Vukic (BHS class of 2009) is a junior playing on Linfield’s soccer team and is a mathematics major.

Kinney (BHS class of 2010) is a sophomore playing on Linfield’s nationally-ranked softball team. She is a biology major.

All three students are slated to return to Linfield in the fall.

Chartered in 1858, Linfield College is a small liberal arts institution located in McMinnville, Oregon, and an additional nursing School in Portland. Linfield competes at the NCAA D-III level in the Northwest Conference, which is regarded as one of the top athletic conferences in the country.
