Bainbridge Spartans baseball team defeats WF West

The Bainbridge Spartans ended spring break with a 6-2 victory against WF West April 5.

Will Rohrbacher led the squad, driving in three runs. McCrea Curfman added two doubles and an RBI. Cole Pentin was the winning pitcher and knocked in a run to help his cause. Braden French also pitched and knocked in a run.

Pentin started on the mound and held the Bearcats without a hit in the first inning. Although the Spartans had a couple of runners in the bottom of the inning, they were unable to capitalize. In the second frame, Pentin walked a batter and allowed him to reach third. But he struck out a couple of batters to keep WF West scoreless.

In the Spartan half of the second, both Talan Williams and AJ Larsen reached base on errors. Pentin then hit an RBI single for a 1-0 lead. Curfman followed with an RBI double.

French relieved Pentin in the top of the fourth and continued to hold the Bearcats scoreless. In the bottom of that inning, the Spartans loaded the bases with no outs. French earned an RBI single while Will Rohrbacher followed with a 2 RBI single.

Trey Thompson pitched the fifth for Bainbridge and walked a few batters to load the bases with one out. Thompson walked in a run, but then retired two-straight batters to end the inning. Thompson allowed another run in the sixth.

Bainbridge scored its final run in the bottom of that inning when Curfman hit his second double. Rohrbacher earned his third RBI with a single.
