KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Twin sisters Samantha and Sophia Segerson from the Bainbridge Island Swim Club competed at the Ironkids Dip’n’ Dash in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

The race, held on Tuesday, Oct. 4, followed the course of the legendary Ironman World Championship.

The sisters were the first two female swimmers in the 9-and-under division to complete the swim, with Samantha in the lead.

The field could not hold off Sophia’s running power, however, as she sprinted to cross the finish line as the champion girl.

Samantha followed closely behind as the third-place female finisher.

The finishers were greeted by three-time Ironman World Champion Craig Alexander, who presented finishers’ medals.

The pair’s 6-year-old sister, Isabella, completed the Ironkids mile run.

The girls are attending the event with their mother, Karen, who will be competing in the Ironman World Championship on Saturday.
