Bainbridge busts Bucs 55-38 in boys hoops

The Bainbridge High varsity boys basketball team finished last year with a 55-38 win over the visitors from Kingston Wednesday, Dec. 30.

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High varsity boys basketball team finished last year with a 55-38 win over the visitors from Kingston Wednesday, Dec. 30.

The Spartans leapt out in front from the tipoff, leading 13-9 at the end of the first quarter. They were outscored in the second (18-15), but still held the lead 28-27 at the end of the half.

BHS grabbed a big advantage in the third, outscoring the Buccaneers 16-4. They also stayed ahead in the game’s final quarter 11-7 to lock the win.

Brendan Burke led the Spartans offensively, scoring 24 points.

Lyle Terry, the only other BHS player to break double digits, put up 10.

Both Marcus Clyde and Sawyer Conrad managed six.

The win at home evened up the Spartans’ overall season record to 4-4 (0-2 in conference). They hold the sixth spot in the Metro Mountain Division rankings. Seattle Prep boasts the number one spot with a 2-0 conference record.
