Bainbridge boys secure team cross country title at state

CK runner wins 3A individual state title

The Bainbridge boys cross country team took home the 2A state title, while Central Kitsap runner Mana Voss finished first individually to earn a 3A state title at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco Nov. 8.

Three Spartan runners finished in the top 10 in the 2A race to help Bainbridge secure the team title. Voss, who placed fourth in state last season, ran the 5,000-meter event in 15:09.2. He is the first boy to earn an individual cross country state title since Shane Moskowitz of CK in 2009. The CK boys finished fourth as a team.

In 4A, South Kitsap runner Isaac Benjamin placed third with a time of 15:07.09.

“Feels good to win. I’m really happy that it was 6-7-8. I had Ben (Crandall) in front of me the whole race – that was really inspiring, helping me to push,” senior captain Ignacio Llorens said, who finished 8th. “Ryan (Dodge), I saw him at one point, and that was also helping me to just go forward, seeing we need to come together as a group. Ben and I started closing that gap, and that felt really good to see at the finish.”
