Bainbridge bests Braves in girls golf

BAINBRIDGE - The Bainbridge High girls varsity golf team rebounded from a dispiriting one-stroke loss to Holy Names Academy to handily best the visitors from Bishop Blanchet late last week.

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High girls varsity golf team rebounded from a dispiriting one-stroke loss to Holy Names Academy to handily best the visitors from Bishop Blanchet late last week.

The final score was 110-75.

It was the island team’s third win of the season and earned them a 3-1 overall season record.

Team co-captain Kiera Havill and stalwart sophomore Lucy Hanacek led the day with 29 points apiece.

Freshman phenomenon Kendall Havill managed 27 points.

Maddie Loverich chipped in 25 points, co-captain Taylor Tye finished with 24, Sara Colley had 19 and both Caitlin Slattery and Annalee Nelson earned 15.

It was the Spartans’ third straight home match following their on the road season debut.
