2 win 5 events each at BI’s All-Comer’s Track Meet

Several hundred kids and parents enjoyed the free community track meet at Woodward Middle School July 18 with five age-group races, plus two coed events (a joggers mile and 4×100 relay) and two modified field events (long jump and shot put).

A near-record 45 joggers entered the opening mile run. Sara Chang (39) won by hitting her 8 minute, 30 second predicted time almost exactly (8:29.7). Emma Delechi (age 11) and Chris Bourgeois (age 10) were the meet’s premier winners, taking first place in all five running events from 50 to 400 meters. Delechi capped off her stellar evening with a leg on the fastest 4×100 relay team.

Winners of four events included Sara Marchesano (5), Zoe Hammond (7), Georgia St Claire (8), Etta Henry (9), Isaac Hodges-Howell (8) and Garza Wooton (12).

The free All-Comers Meets, put on by members of the Bainbridge Kiwanis Club and the Bainbridge High School cross country team, will continue at the Woodward track each Monday evening through Aug. 15, when medals will be given to the season’s best runners in each age group.

Registration and field events are at 5:30, with the jogger’s mile at 6 and the culminating 4×100 relay at approximately 8:15 p.m.
