The Bainbridge 10-11 All Stars finished second in the state tournament yesterday.

The Bainbridge 10-11 baseball All-Stars finished second in the state tournament Sunday.

Bainbridge faced Asotin County three consecutive times July 22 through Sunday, with Asotin County winning the last two contests to claim the championship.

Bainbridge defeated Asotin County 8-2 in the semifinal July 22, but Asotin County rebounded, edging Bainbridge 9-8 Saturday in the first championship game.

Asotin County built a 9-0 lead over four and a half innings before Bainbridge scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the sixth. Bainbridge had the tying run on third and the winning run on first when the last out was recorded.

In the second championship game Sunday, Asotin County jumped to an early advantage with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the first.

Down 4-0, Bainbridge rallied to trail by one in the top of the fourth, but stranded the tying run at third base. Asotin County added insurance runs in the fourth and fifth innings for a 6-3 win.
