Please help One Call for All | IN OUR OPINION

There’s good news and reason to celebrate on Bainbridge Island.

There’s good news and reason to celebrate on Bainbridge Island.

But a big challenge still remains.

Officials with One Call for All, the umbrella organization that will provide needed funding to 90 essential Bainbridge Island nonprofits over the next year, has already raised $600,000 in its annual One Call for All Red Envelope campaign.

The campaign kicked off in early October, and is more than halfway to its goal of raising $1 million for local nonprofits.

Time is running short, however, for islanders who would like to make a donation and have it count toward their non-taxable charitable contributions for 2013.

Bainbridge Islanders have long been supportive of the great work done by One Call for All. In the last decade alone, One Call for All has handed out more than $8.9 million to large and small nonprofits that serve the Bainbridge community. And, it bears repeating again, that all of the donations — that’s 100 percent — of the money given to One Call for All goes directly to the organizations named by the donor.

If there is one essential gift you make this year, please make it a donation to One Call for All. Can’t find that red envelope? Go to www.onecallforall.org for a donation form.
