Longtime islander Rosamond Wells Downey died Oct. 9 at Swedish Hospital in Seattle from complications of her stroke three years ago.

She was born Feb. 10, 1916 in Kremlin, Mont. to Fred and Isis Thorne.

She had been a resident of Bainbridge Island since 1956 and resided at Island Health and had Rehabilitation for the past three years.

A memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at Bethany Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or Hope Heart Institute, 1710 East Jefferson, Seattle, WA 98122.
